Bret Weiss

Brett Weiss has been active in several areas of the civil law, with extensive experience in individual and corporate bankruptcy (Chapters 7, 11 and 13), personal injury and medical malpractice, worker’s compensation, estates, estate planning and trusts, and general civil litigation. He has also been active in community affairs, serving as president and board member of numerous civic, community and arts organizations, and as a candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates. As a member of the renowned Maryland Chorus for the past 20 years, Mr. Weiss has sung with major symphony orchestras around the world, at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and London’s Royal Festival Hall, among other venues.

Mr. Weiss serves as a Board Member of the Maryland State Bar Association Consumer Bankruptcy Section, and is co-chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee. He is also active in the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. He has also made a number of presentations to other bankruptcy attorneys regarding the new bankruptcy law, presenting most recently at the annual Bankruptcy Bar Association annual convention.

Mr. Weiss is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. and Fourth Circuits, the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland (as a member of the Federal Trial Bar), and all state courts in Maryland and the District of Columbia. He graduated from the University of Maryland and the University of Maryland School of Law (with honors), and was a member of his law school’s national finalist National Moot Court Team.
